Junker (Balzer)

Johann Conrad Juncker, son of Johannes Juncker & Catharina Schleucher, was baptized 26 November 1719 in Rothenbergen. He married 16 June 1746 in Grundau to Wilhelmina Henrietta Schleucher, daughter of Johann Michel & Anna Catharina Schleucher.

The baptisms of the following children to Johann Conrad Juncker & Wilhelmina Henrietta Schleucher are recorded in the parish register of Grundau (each born in Lieblos): (1) Eleanora Friedrica, born 7 June 1747, baptized 11 June 1747; (2) Elisabeth, born 7 October 1749, baptized 10 October 1749; and (3) Johann Heinrich, born 11 March 1751, baptized 14 March 1751.

Konrad Junker, a farmer, his wife Wilhelmina, and children (Eleonora, age 20; Elisabeth, age 18½; Johann Heinrich, age 17) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 August 1766 aboard the pink Slon under the command of Lieutenant Sergey Panov.

Konrad died and widow Wilhelmina remarried to Heinrich Becker who arrived in Oranienbaum on the same ship. The combined Becker / Junker family settled in the Volga German colony of Balzer on 8 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 103.

Daughter Eleonora married Georg Heinrich Engel, son of Johann Conrad Engel, who had arrived in Oranienbaum on the same ship with the Juncker and Becker families. [See Engel Family.]

The baptism of a son to Johann Heinrich & Maria Salome [née Mohr] Junker is recorded in the parish register of Schilling: Johann Friedrich, born 25 January 1781, baptized 31 January 1781.

Salome, widow of Heinrich Junker, is recorded on the 1798 census of Schilling in Household No. Sg030 along with their son Friedrich (age 16). Salome had remarried to Konrad Luft.

The death of Friedrich Junker in 1833 is recorded on the 1834 census of Schilling in Household No. 144.

Konrad Junker, son of Friedrich Junker, and his siblings are recorded on the 1857 census of Schilling in Household No. 154.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Konrad Junker came from the German region of Isenburg.
