Köhler (Nieder-Monjou-2)*
Ludwig Köhler, a farmer, and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard an English frigate under the command of Skipper Adam Beerfeier.
Ludwig Köhler and his children (Johann Heinrich, age 7; Anna, age 2) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
Ludwig settled in the Volga German colony of Nieder-Monjou on 3 August 1767 and is recorded there as a widower on the 1767 census in Household No. 90.
The 1767 census records that Ludwig Köhler came from the German village of Wittgenborn in the Isenburg region.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Köhler family among the Volga German colonies.
