Körner (Lauwe)

Friedrich Körner, a single cobbler (Schuhmacher), arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a galliot named Die Börse von Lübeck under the command of Skipper Martin Friedrich Markau.

Fridrich Kerner is recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

He settled in the Volga German colony of Lauwe on 5 September 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census [with surname translated as Krämer] in Household No. 53 along with his stepdaughter Elisabeth Dorothea [surname not recorded] and a note that his wife had died during the trip to Saratov as part of the group brought by Lieutenant Ditmar.

It is believed that this deceased wife is Sophia Philippina, the widow of Philipp Braun. The Braun family was traveling with a number of other families that settled in Lauwe, and they had a daughter Elisabeth Dorothea who was the correct age.

He is recorded on the 1798 census of Lauwe in Household No. Lw28.

Gottlieb Körner from Lauwe and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Straub in Household No. 64.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Friedrich Körner came from the German region of Sachsen (Saxony) while the 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Klemintz? [Chemnitz?] in the region of Sachsen (Saxony).
