Discussion & Documentation

Friedrich Kahlmann, a single craftsman (Handwerker), settled in the Volga German colony of Urbach on 13 July 1767. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 24 along with a note that he is working as a day laborer (Lohnarbeiter) for Gottfried Schmidt.

The 1767 census records that Friedrich Kahlmann came from the German town of Kiel in the Holstein region.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Kahlmann family among the Volga German colonies.
