Jakob Bernhard Kämpf, his wife Anna Maria, and son Johann Jakob (age 2) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard the Danish galliot Nord Stern under the command of Skipper Detlev Belling.

Bernhard Kempf, his wife Anna Maria, and children (Johann Jacob, age 2¼; Anna Maria, age ¼) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that daughter Anna Maria died en route.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Urbach on 3 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 55.

In 1788, Bernhard Kämpf and his family moved from Urbach to Schwed. By 1798, they were living in Stahl am Karaman.

Bernhardt Kämpf along with his sons and grandsons are recorded on the 1811 census of Stahl am Karaman in Household No. 31.

In 1797, Heinrich Gottlieb Kempf moved from Stahl am Karaman to Reinwald.

Gottlieb Kempf from Stahl am Karaman is recorded on the 1798 census of Reinwald in Household No. Rw03.

The death of Gottlieb Kempf in 1821 is recorded on the 1834 census of Reinwald in Household No. 2.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Jakob Bernhard Kämpf was a weaver while the 1767 census records that he was a craftsman (Handwerker).

The 1767 census records that Jakob Bernhard Kämpf came from the German village of Wildberg in the Württemberg region.
