Discussion & Documentation

Franz Karl and his wife Elisabeth arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 16 August 1766 aboard a snow-brig named Prinz Carl (Prince Carl) under the command of Skipper Christopher Losser.

Frantz Carl [sic] and his wife Elisabeth are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that Elisabeth died in route.

Franz Karl, a cloth weaver (Tuchweber), and his [new] wife Maria are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Nieder-Monjou.

Franz Karl and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Zug in Household No. 20.

The 1767 census records that Frank Karl came from the German region of Den Brand.
