Christian Kaufmann, a miller, his wife Magdalena, and children (Johann, age 16¼; Anna, age 6; Katharina, age 3) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a snow-brig named Christina under the command of Skipper Jacob Stappenberg.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Kutter on 8 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 23.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Christian Kaufmann was a miller while the 1767 census records that he was a craftsman (Handwerker).
The Facius List records that Christian Kaufmann came from the German village of Wolferborn. Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Christian Kaufmann came from the German region of Isenburg.
