Gottlieb Friedrich Kürbß, son of Gottfried Kürbß & Christina Stein, was born 22 April 1723 in Frohburg, Saxony. He married 1 June 1755 in Bad Lausick to Johanna Eleonora Hoffmann. Their children who were baptized in Frohburg include: (1) Eleonora, born 21 December 1759, baptized 22 December 1759; & (2) David, born 8 July 1761, baptized the same day, died 4 May 1762.

They immigrated to Russia and settled in the Volga German colony of Holstein on 26 May 1765. Gottlieb Friedrich Kerbs, a weaver (Weber), his wife Eleonora and children (Maria Sophia, age 14; Eleonora, age 8; Johann Heinrich, age 7; Johann Wilhelm, age 5; Johann Gottlieb, age 2-weeks) are recorded on the 1767 census of Holstein in Household No. 14.

Gottlieb Friedrich Kerbs and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Holstein in Household No. Ho18. The widow and children of his son Johann Wilhelm Kerbs are recorded on the 1798 census of Holstein in Household No. Ho24. Sophia Kerbs, daughter of Gottlieb Friedrich Kerbs, and her husband Adam Jauck are recorded on the 1798 census of Holstein in Household No. Ho45.

In 1788, Johann Heinrich Kerbs, son of Gottlieb Friedrich Kerbs, moved from Holstein to Galka.
