Klamm (Preuss / Warenburg)
There are two Klamm families who arrived together from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 June 1766 aboard the ship Mann und Frau under the command of Skipper Daniel Berg. Both came from the German village of Ziegenberg. They are believed to be father and son, but further research is necessary to confirm this relationship.
(1) Widower Jakob Klamm, a farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 June 1766 aboard the ship Mann und Frau under the command of Skipper Daniel Berg.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Preuss on 15 July 1767. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 141 with a note that he is living with his son-in-law Heinrich Meier.
The 1767 census records that Jakob Klamm came from the German village of Ziegenberg near Darmstadt.
(2) Johann [Michael] Klamm, a wool weaver (Wollweber), his wife Anna, and daughter Elisabeth (age 3) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 June 1766 aboard the ship Mann und Frau under the command of Skipper Daniel Berg.
Michael Klamm, his wife Anna Maria, and son Heinrich Peter (age 1½) are recorded on the 1767 census of Warenburg in Household No. 38. They had settled in Warenburg on 12 May 1767.
Michael Klamm and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Warenburg in Household No. Wr007 with Heinrich Peter Klamm and his wife in Household No. Wr008.
The death of Michael Klamm in 1803 is recorded on the 1811 census of Warenburg in Household No. 7.
Heinrich Peter Klamm and his family are recorded on the 1811 census of Warenburg in Household No. 8.
Johann Daniel Klamm, believed to be a son of Michael Klamm, and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Warenburg in Household No. Wr109.
Johannes Daniel Klamm is recorded on the 1811 census of Warenburg in Household No. 109 along with a note that he relocated to the colony of Preuss [year not recorded].
Johann Daniel Klamm from Warenburg and his son Ludwig Jakob (age ½) are recorded on the 1811 census of Preuss in Household No. 93 along with a note that he had arrived in Preuss from Warenburg in 1811.
The 1767 census records that Michael Klamm came from the German village of Zierburg [Ziegenberg] in the Darmstadt region.
