Discussion & Documentation:

There are two Koch families who arrived in Lübeck together and settled in the Volga German colony of Müller together. There relationship to each other, if any, needs further research

(1) Johann Heinrich Koch, a carpenter, his wife Anna Margaretha, and children (Elisabeth, age 20, Heinrich Lorenz, age 17) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 August 1766 aboard the pink Novaya Dvinka under the command of Lieutenant Perepechin.

Orphan Heinrich [Lorenz] Koch (age 19) is recorded on the 1767 census of Kraft in Household No. 15 along with his sister Margaretha (age 21) and her husband Kaspar Krepp.

Lorenz Koch and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Müller in Household No. Ml32 along with a note that his three sons are working in the colony of Grimm.

(2) Johann Reinhard Koch, a carpenter, and his wife Elisabeth arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 August 1766 aboard the pink Novaya Dvinka under the command of Lieutenant Perepechin.

Reinhard Koch, a miller (Müller), and his wife Anna Elisabeth are recorded on the 1767 census of Müller in Household No. 31. They had arrived in Müller on 16 August 1767.

Reinhardt Koch and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Müller in Household No. Ml11.

There are two Koch famililes from Müller whose connection to the above two families is not known, but they are presumed to be connected.

Andreas Koch and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Müller in Household No. Ml08.

Johannes Koch from Müller and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Norka in Household No. Nr004.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Reinhard Koch is a carpenter while the 1767 census records that he was a miller (Müller).

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Reinhard Koch came from the German district of Darmstadt. The 1767 census records that he came from Alsfeld.
