Discussion & Documentation

Widow Julianna Koch and her daughters (Anna, age 18; Elisabeth, age 16) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.

Widow Juliana Koch and her daughter Agness (age 17) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that Juliana died in route.

It is not known in which colony surviving daughter Agness settled.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Julianna Koch came from the German region of Nassau.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Koch family among the Volga German colonies.
