Discussion & Documentation

Andreas Kocher was born in approximately 1790 in the town of Mingminster [sic] in the German region of Bayern [Bavaria].  He was a farmer.

He served as a soldier in the 2nd Cavalry (Jäger) Regiment in Napoleon's Army. He fought against the Russians and was captured.

Milovidov records that as of 1814 he has one brother and two sisters still living in Mingminster [sic].

He was settled in the Volga German colony of Rohleder and assigned to the household of Anton Glocker.

He is recorded on the 1834 census of Rohleder in Household No. 43, on the 1850 census of Rohleder in Household No. 64 (erroneously recorded as Kohler), on the 1857 census of Rohleder in Household No. 84 with a note that he died in 1856. [The 1850 & 1857 censuses record his age such that he was born in approximately 1800 rather than 1790, which is the correct age calculated from the 1834 census.]

Milovidov records that Andreas Kocher came from the German town of Mingminster in the region of Bayern. [A town named Mingminster has not been located. Perhaps it is Memmingen. Further research needs to be done to confirm this.]
