Paulus (Paul) Kohl was born in approximately 1783 in the village of Biberach [sic] in Bavaria.
He served as a soldier in the artillery in Napoleon's Army. He fought against the Russians and was captured.
Milovidov records that as of 1814 two brothers and two sisters were still living in Biberach [sic].
He was settled in the Volga German colony of Rohleder and assigned to the household of Peter Springer.
He is recorded on the 1850 census of Rohleder in Household No. 65 and on the 1857 census of Rohleder in Household No. 85.
Belousov records that Paulus Kohl came from the German region of Bayern [Bavaria]. Milovidov records that he came from the German village of Biberach in the region of Bayern. Biberach is in Baden-Württemberg. However, there are several villages named Biberbach in Bavaria.
