Peter Köhler, a farmer, settled in the Volga German colony of Chasselois on 2 August 1766. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 7 along with his new wife, Elisabeth, and her children: Michael (age 11), Susanna (age 10), Maria (age 7), and Sebastian (age 1-1/2).
Following the destruction of Chasselois, the Köhler family relocated to the colony of Graf.
The 1767 census records that Peter Köhler came from the German village of Losen in the Trier region.
