Discussion & Documentation

An article by Wilhelm Funk records the following going to Russia:

Martin Kolb, a farmer (Bauersmann), son of the deceased Martin Kolb, a day laborer (Taglöhner) in Rapoldshofen near Neustadt on the Aisch, and Ursula Bittenberger, daughter of the deceased Conrad Bittenberger, a farmer (Beständner) in Guttenstädten, both Lutheran, were married on 7 May 1766 in the Lutheran Church in Wöhrd.

Martin Kolb, a farmer, and his wife Ursula arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the snow-brig Frei Gebruder under the command of Skipper Minzberger.

Martin Kolb, his wife Ursula, and new-born daughter Eva are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Laub on 15 September 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 56.

The 1767 census records that Martin Kolb came from the German village of Rappoldshofen bei Neustadt an der Aisch in the region of Bayreuth.
