Discussion & Documentation

Gottlieb König, a farmer, and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard an English barque named George under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.

Gottlieb König, his wife Anna, and newborn son Joh. Friedrich are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that all three died in route.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Gottlieb König came from the German region of Sachsen (Saxony).

There are no known surviving male lines of this König family among the Volga German colonies.
