Christoph Kraut, a farmer, and his family immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein), arriving in Fridericia on 1 May 1760. They are last recorded in Denmark on 26 April 1763.

The Kraut family joined the migration to Russia.

Christoph Kraut, a farmer, his wife Sabina Margaretha, and son Johann Leonhard (age 7) are recorded on the 1767 census of Dobrinka in Household No. 24. They had settled there on 15 April 1765.

The Eichhorns record that Christoph Kraut came from the German village of Großsachsen. The 1767 census records that Christoph Kraut came from the German village of Ambap [?] in the region of Württemberg.
