Widower Konrad Kuhl [sic], a teacher (Lehrer), and his son Johann (age 14) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a barque named Fortitudo (Fortitude) under the command of Skipper John Scott.
Conrad Kühl and his son Johan Heinrich (age 14) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that father Conrad died in route.
It is not known in which colony son Johann Heinrich Kühl settled.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Konrad Kuhl [sic] came from the German region of Isenburg.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Kühl family among the Volga German colonies.
