Johann Michael Kunz, a carpenter (Zimmermann), his wife Dorothea, and daughter Maira Christina (age 1) are recorded on the 1767 census of Jost in Household No. 50. They had settled there on 19 August 1767.
The 1767 census records that Johann Michael Kunz came from the German village of Winterbach in the Schwaben (Swabia) region.
