Discussion & Documentation

Nikolaus Lange, a farmer, his wife Anna, and son Nikolaus (age ½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard an English barque named George under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.

Nicol. Lange and wife Anna Margar. are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that Nikolaus died in route.

It is not known in which colony the Widow Anna Margaretha Lange settled.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Nikolaus Lange came from the German region of Hanau.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Lange family among the Volga German colonies.
