Nicolaus Lauffer, a tailor (Schneider), was born 1 October 1692 in Crainfeld and died 31 July 1759 in Hersfeld. He married on 18 February 1717 in Hersfeld to Anna Kunigunda Möller. She died 27 October 1752 in Hersfeld.

One child of Nicolaus & Anna Kunigunda is Johann Georg Lauffer, a master tailor (Schneidermeister), who was born 19 February 1720. He married on 2 April 1744 in Hersfeld to Martha Elisabeth Weygel.

One child of Johann Georg & Martha Elisabeth Lauffer is Nicolaus who was born 15 January 1755 in Hersfeld.

Johann Laufer, a tailor, his wife Martha, and children (Anna, age 17¼; Nicolaus, age 9; Elisabeth, age 7; Sophia, age 5¼) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 14 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Reders. They were travelling with the widow Anna Lauffer and her daughter Susanna (age 4).

Johann Georg Lauffer [sic], his wife Anna Margaretha, and children (Anna Catharina, age 17; Nicolaus, age 11; Anna Elisabeth, age 8; Sophia, age 6) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767. They were travelling with Elisabeth [sic] Laufer and her daughter Anna Margar. (age 4) along with a note that Anna Margar. died en route.

Johann Georg Laufer, a craftsman (Handwerker), his wife Martha Elisabeth, and children (Anna Katharina, age 18; Nikolaus, age 12; Elisabeth, age 11; Sophia, age 7) are recorded on the 1767 census of Messer in Household No. 83. They had settled there on 14 September 1767.

The 1767 census records that Johann Georg Laufer came from the German region of Hessen.
