Discussion & Documentation

Sebastian Lechmann, a farmer, his wife Christina, and children (Agness, age 17; Johannes, age 9; Michael 7) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 13 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Johann Grapp.

Sebastian Lechmann, his wife Christina, and children (Johannes, age 19; Angneas, age 17¼; Michael, age 9) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Rothammel on 21 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 18.

The 1767 census records that Sebastian Lechmann came from the German village of Ingstetten in the Württemberg region.
