Johann Gottlieb Lehmann, a cloth weaver (Tuchweber), and his wife Elisabeth settled in the Volga German colony of Orlovskaya on 3 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 76.
Gottlieb Lehmann (age 61) and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Orlovskaya in Household No. Or39.
The 1767 census records that Johann Gottlieb Lehmann came from the German village of Gschmacheberg [Schmiedeberg?].
