Lehmann (Urbach)
Widow Dorothea Lehmann and her son David arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 21 July 1766 aboard the snow-brig Mercurius under the command of Skipper Christian Heinrich Abelßen.
Dorothea remarried to Gottfried Herbst and settled in the Volga German colony of Urbach on 13 July 1767. Gottfried Herbst and his wife Anna Katharina [sic] are recorded on the 1767 census of Urbach in Household No. 5 with his stepson David Lehmann.
David Lehmann, his wife Maria Elisabeth Ute from Dinkel, and his mother Dorothea Herbst are recorded on the 1798 census of Urbach in Household No. Ur27 along with the following note:
"since 1786, Lehmann was in Ukraine in the service of Count Razumovsky. He returned to this colony [Urbach] last year. He then went to Saratov where he now resides. He has paid only for 1797."
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Dorothea Lehmann came from the German region of Prussia.
