[Philipp] Peter Leneschmidt, a farmer, his wife Anna Maria, and their children (Philipp Lorenz, age 15; Margaretha, age 12; Johann Jakob, age 7) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 8 August 1766 aboard the pink Cargo under the command of Lieutenant Moses Davydov.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Huck on 17 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 69 along with Philipp Peter's new wife Sophia Barbara.

The 1798 census of Müller records Lorenz Leneschmidt from Huck in Household No. Ml16.

The 1834 census of Shcherbakovka records Balthasar Leneschmidt [from Müller] in Household No. 41.

The 1857 census of Wiesenmüller records Georg Lorenz Leneschmidt from Müller residing there.

A discussion list on the Wolgadeutsche.net reports that the Lorenz & Louisa Leneschmidt family moved from the Volga region to the village of Khasavyurt (Russian: Хасавюрт) in the Caucasus in the 1920s. Today, this city is located in the Russian Republic of Dagestan. During the 1941 Deportation, this family was resettled to Kazakhstan.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Peter Leinschmidt [sic] came from the German region of the Pfalz. The 1767 census records that Philipp Peter Leinschmidt [sic] came from the German region of Kurpfalz.

Subsequent records in Russia record this surname with the spelling of Leneschmidt.
