Steinberger's list of those immigrating to Russia from Leisenwald includes the Loos families that settled in the Volga German colony of Kutter.
Several Loos families arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a snow-brig named Christina under the command of Skipper Jacob Stappenberg. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.
(1) Peter Looß (age 30) is recorded on a list of colonists recruited by Johann Facius.
Johann Peter Loos, a farmer, and his wife Katharina arrived in Oranienbaum.
Johann Peter Loos is recorded on the 1767 census of Kutter in Household No. 64. He had arrived in Kutter on 29 July 1767.
(2) Johannes Loos from Leisenwald & Anna Maria Loos, daughter of Sebastian Loos, from Leisenwald had been married in Büdingen on 3 May 1766.
Johann[es] Loos, a farmer, and his wife Anna [Loos] arrived in Oranienbaum.
Johannes Loos is recorded on the 1767 census of Kutter in Household No. 2. He had arrived in Kutter on 8 July 1767.
(3) Sebastian Looß (age 48) is recorded on a list of colonists recruited by Johann Facius.
Sebastian Loos, a widowed farmer, and his daughter Elisabeth (age 22) arrived in Oranienbaum.
Elisabeth Loos, daughter of Sebastian Loos, is recorded on the 1767 census of Kutter in Household No. 20 as the husband of Andreas Reifschneider.
The marriage register of Büdingen records that Johannes Reifschneider from Leisewald [sic] & Anna Katharina Loos from Leisewald [sic] were married on 3 May 1766 at the church in Büdingen.
(4) Johann Loos, a single farmer, arrived in Oranienbaum.
The Facius List records that Peter & Sebastian Looß came from the German village of Leisenwald. The Oranienbaum passenger list records that these Loos families came from the German region of Isenburg.
