Heinrich Lorenz, a farmer, and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Messer on 7 July 1766. Heinrich, his wife Anna Maria, and son Johannes Georg (age 1½) are recorded on the 1767 census of Messer in Household No. 20 along with orphan Maria Magdalena Meisterling. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Lorenz and Meisterling families.
Friedrich Lorenz from Messer and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Franzosen in Household No. 11.
The 1767 census records that Heinrich Lorenz came from the German region of Kurpfalz.
