Heinrich Mainz, a farmer, and his wife Katharina arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 29 May 1766 aboard the galliot named Adler (Eagle) under the command of the Skipper Paul Adolph Drath.
They had arrived in the Volga German colony of Dinkel on 12 May 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 3.
The 1767 census records that Heinrich Mainz came from the German village of Begant in the Mecklenburg-Schwerin area.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Mainz family among the Volga German colonies.
