Johann Matheus [sic], a single cobbler (Schuster), arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 7 August 1766 aboard the ship named Nordstern (North Star) under the command of Skipper Detlev Behling.
Johann Matthias [sic] is recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
Johann Arent Matthissen, a cobbler (Schuhmacher) and his wife Maria Magdalena settled in the Volga German colony of Stahl am Tarlyk on 19 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 48.
Hans Christian Matthissen and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Stahl am Karaman in Household No. St30.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Matheus [sic] came from the German region of Prussia. The 1767 census records that Johann Arent Matthissen came from the German village of Lenzen in the Brandenburg region.
