Johann Georg Meier, a craftsman (Handwerker), his wife Margaretha, and children (Georg, age 11; Anna Katharina, age 6; Anna Margaretha, age 3) are recorded on the 1767 census of Dobrinka in Household no. 47. They had settled in Dobrinka on 15 April 1765.

The widow and children of Georg Meier are recorded on the 1798 census of Dobrinka in Household No. Db10.

Several descendant lines of this Meier family relocated to the daughter colony of Neu-Weimar before 1857.

The 1767 census records that Johann Georg Meier came from the German village of Rostock in the Mecklenburg region.
