Simon Meier, a farmer, his wife Margaretha, and children (Maria, age 8; Jakob, age 5; Andreas, age 2½; Heinrich, age ½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 July 1766 aboard a Russian packet-boat named Svyataya Ekaterina (St. Catherine) under the command of Midshipman Alexander Trusov.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Kautz on 20 July 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 4.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Simon Meier came from the German region of Pfalz. The 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Hassloch.
