Hans Jakob Mumm, a mason (Maurer), his wife Hedwig, and daughters (Dorothea Sophia, age 13; Margaretha Sophia, age 10) are recorded on the 1767 census of Stahl am Tarlyk in Household No. 54. They had settled there on 13 September 1767.

The 1767 census records that Hans Jakob Mumm came from the German town of Schleswig in the Holstein region.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
