Valentin Naumann, his wife Katharina, and sons (Johann [Jonas], as 15; Konrad, age 5; Daniel, age 4) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.

Valentin Neumann [sic], his wife Catharina, and sons (Jonas, age 15; Daniel, age 4; Conrad, age 3) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that mother Catharina and son Daniel died en route.

Valentin Naumann, and his [new] wife Rosine, and sons (Johann, age 14; Conrad, age 6) are recorded on the 1767 census of Beauregard in Household No. 10. They had settled in Beauregard on 27 August 1766.

Valentin's widow is recorded on the 1798 census of Biberstein in Household No. Bb34.

Jonas Naumann is recorded on the 1798 census of Biberstein in Household No. Bb16. The death of Jonas Naumann in 1822 is recorded on the 1834 census of Biberstein in Household No. 21.

Konrad Naumann from Biberstein is recorded on the 1798 census of Bettinger in Household No. Bt25.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Valentin Neumann was a carpenter from the German region of Nassau. The 1767 census records that he was a carriage builder (Leiterwagenbauer) from the German region of Wnikat [?].

Some translations record this surname as Neumann.
