Discussion & Documentation

Widower Stephan Nemeti, a farmer, settled in the Volga German colony of Dobrinka on 29 June 1765. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 37.

The 1767 census records that Stephan Nemeti came from the German village of Sacksmar [?] in the Umor [?] region.

The 1767 census records that Stephan Nemeti was Catholic. Therefore, he may have relocated to another colony.

There do not appear to be any surviving male descendants of this family, so the surname does not continue among the Volga German colonies.
