Paul [sic] Nickling, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 29 July 1766 aboard the ship Apollo under the command of Detlov Merberg.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Pfeifer on 20 August 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census as Peter [sic] Nickling in Household No. 107.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Paul [sic] Nickling came from the German region of Franken (Franconia) while the 1767 census records that Peter [sic] Nickling came from the German village of Hammelburg.
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
