Johannes [Melchior] Ochs, a farmer, his wife Anna Margaretha, and daughter Anna Magdalena settled in the Volga German colony of Anton on 1 September 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 51.

Melchior Ochs and his descendants are recorded on the 1798 census of Pobochnaya in Households No. Pb37 and Pb38 along with a note that Heinrich Ochs is working in Balzer. There is also an Ochs family that remained in Anton. They are recorded there on the 1798 census in Household No. An35.

The 1767 census records that Johannes [Melchior] Ochs came from the German region of Hanau.
