The surname of this family appears in various forms: Beil, Feil, & Peil.
Nikolaus Feil [sic], a farmer, and his wife Elisabeth arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a galliot named Concordia under the command of Skipper Jakob Bauert.
Nikolaus Feil [sic], his wife Elisabeth, and son Johann Georg (age ½) are recorded on the 1767 census of Schwab in Household No. 18. They had settled in Schwab on 8 July 1767.
The widow and sons (Peter, age 31; Johann Kaspar, age 29; Nikolaus, age 27) of Nikolaus Peil/Beil [sic] are recorded on the 1798 census of Schwab in Household No. Sb04.
The death of Georg Peter Beil in 1830 is recorded on the 1834 census of Schwab in Household No. 3.
The death of Nikolaus Beil in 1850 is recorded on the 1850 census of Schwab in Household No. 46.
The death of Kaspar Beil in 1843 is recorded on the 1850 census of Schwab in Household No. 80.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Nikolaus Feil [sic] came from the German region of Darmstadt. The 1767 census records that Johann Nikolaus Feil came from the German village of Weiditz [Plehve has transcribed this location as Weihenzell for some unknown reason].
