Martin Pufald, a farmer, and his wife Christina immigrated to Schleswig-Holstein (Denmark), arriving in the city of Schleswig on 4 July 1761. They departed the Danish colonies on 6 June 1763 and joined the migration to Russia.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Fischer on 28 July 1765. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 10.
The Eichhorns record that Martin Pufald came from the German village of Herzberg in the region of Sachsen (Saxony). The 1767 census records that he came from the village of Schidatlei [?] in Poland.
There do not appear to be any surviving male descendants of this family among the Volga German colonies.
