Discussion & Documentation:

A researcher identified as "selena" on the forum of the Wolgadeutsche.net site posts that Severin Röhrig (born 1697) and Engel Catharina Ruppel married on 19 October 1726 in Hüttengesäß. Among their children was Philipp Röhrig, who was baptized in Hüttengesäß on 4 July 1740.

Philipp married on 4 April 1765 in Hüttengesäß to Anna Maria Schmick, daughter of Johann Heinrich Schmick from Lieblos, Meerholtz. The baptism of their daughter Anna Elisabeth is recorded on 4 December 1765 in Gründau. She died on 2 May 1766 in Büdingen.

Philipp Röhrig, a farmer, and his wife Anna Maria arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 August 1766 aboard the pink Slon under the command of Lieutenant Sergey Panov.

Philipp settled in the Volga German colony of Balzer on 8 August 1767. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 91 along with his new wife Katharina.

Valentin Röhrig from Balzer and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Wiesenmüller.

Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Philipp Röhrig came from the German region of Isenburg. The burial register in Büdingen records that Philipp Röhrig was from Lieblos.

[It is also noted that Anna Margaretha Röhrig married Stephan Dörr. Several of their children (each born in Hüttengesäß) immigrated to Russia - See Dörr Family.]
