Rübling*
Ludwig Rübling, a farmer, and his wife Gertrude arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
Ludw. Rübling and his wife Gertraut are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Nieder-Monjou on 7 June 1767. Ludwig is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 8 along with his new wife Anna [Margaretha] [the widow of Nikolaus Christ] and her son Johann [Peter Christ] (age 8).
Widow Margaretha Rübling and her son Peter Christ are recorded on the 1798 census of Nieder-Monjou in Household No. Nm37.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Ludwig Rübling came from the German region of Hessen. The 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Oeslau.
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
