Anton Peter Rau, a farmer, and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 3 June 1766 aboard the galliot Adler under the command of Skipper Paul Adolph Drath.

Anton Peter died after arriving in Russia and his widow Anna Maria remarried to widower Andreas Anderson.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Dinkel on 27 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 4 along with the Rau children.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Anton Peter Rau came from the German region of Holstein.
