Konrad Rau, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a pinque named Slon (Elephant) under the command of Lieutenant Sergey Panov.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Grimm and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 69 along with his new wife Anna Margaretha Aff.

The death in 1842 of Wilhelm Rau, son of Konrad Rau, is recorded on the 1850 census of Ernestinendorf in Household No. 43.
Johann Kaspar Rau, son of Wilhelm Rau, is recorded on the 1857 census of Ernestinendorf in Household No. 52 along with a note that he relocated to the colony of Nieder-Monjou in 1846 [perhaps 1856].
Kaspar Rau, son of Konrad Rau, and his family are recorded on an 1865 list of colonists resettled to Lilienfeld along with a note that they arrived in Lilienfeld from Ernestinendorf on 7 March 1859.
Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Konrad Rau came from the German region of Darmstadt.
Rau Family in Sarepta
Parish registers in Sarepta record that Maria Magdalena Rau, daughter of Konrad Rau & Anna Margaretha Aff, was born in Grimm on 11 March 1787. The family had relocated to Sarepta on 27 September 1799.
