Rausch (Grimm)
Michael Rausch, a blacksmith (Schmidt), and his wife Anna Margaretha Braun had three children whose births are recorded in the Family Register of Wehrda: (1) Andreas, born 6 October 1758, died 6 October 1758; (2) Anna Barbara, born 15 November 1759; and (3) Andreas [Johann Adam], born 26 November 1761.
Michael and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 22 July 1766 aboard the pink Lev under the command of Lieutenant Fyodor Fyodorov.
The parents died after arrival in Russia. The surviving children settled in the Volga German colony of Grimm and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Households No. 8 and 10 living with two different Braun families. The 1767 census does not record an exact relationship between the Rausch and Braun families, although they are assumed to be related through the Braun families.
Anna Barbara Rausch (age 15) and Adam Rausch (age 12) are recorded on the 1775 census of Grimm in Household No. 92 along with the Johann Braun family.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Michael Rausch came from the German village of Schlitz, southwest of Wehrda. The 1767 census of Grimm also records that Anna Barbara & her brother Johann Adam came from the German village of Schlitz.
