Johannes Reuss from Lorbach near Büdingen married in Vonhausen on 30 July 1761 to Anna Elisabeth Scheidt, the daughter of Johann Scheidt.
Johann Reuss, a farmer, his wife [Anna] Elisabeth, and their daughter Albertina (age 7) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard an English frigate named Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax. They were traveling with Elisabeth's father, widower Johann Scheidt.
Johannes Reis, a farmer, his wife Anna Elisabeth, their children (Albertina, age 8; Apollonia, age 1-month), and Anna Elisabeth's father Johann Scheidt (age 64) are recorded on the 1767 census of Balzer in Household No. 56. They had settled in Balzer on 18 June 1767.
Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Johann[es] Reis came from the German region of Isenburg.
