Johannes Reuss from Lorbach near Büdingen married in Vonhausen on 30 July 1761 to Anna Elisabeth Scheidt, the daughter of Johann Scheidt.
Johann Reuss, a farmer, his wife [Anna] Elisabeth, and their daughter Albertina (age 7) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax. They were travelling with Elisabeth's father, widower Johann Scheidt.
Johannes Reis, a farmer, his wife Anna Elisabeth, their children (Albertina, age 8; Apollonia, age 1-month), and Anna Elisabeth's father Johann Scheidt (age 64) are recorded on the 1767 census of Balzer in Household No. 56. They had settled in Balzer on 18 June 1767.
The 1767 census records that Johannes Reis came from the German region of Isenburg.
