Johann Samuel Rode, a stonemason, his wife Cecilia Katharina, and sons (Christoph Rudolph, age 7; Rudolph Ernst, age 1) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 14 September 1766 aboard the galliot Der Jan under the command of Skipper Markus Dragun.

Johann Samuel Rothe [sic], his wife Sophia Catharina, and sons (Christoph Rudolff, age 8; Rudolff Ernst, age 1) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that son Rudolff Ernst died en route.

Christoph Rode [erroneously recorded as Ruddel], his wife Anna Elisabeth Eberling, and children (Johann Martin, age 11; Nikolaus, age 7; Anna Maria, age ¼) are recorded on the 1798 census of Frank in Household No. Fk115.

Christoph Rode and his sons (Martin, age 24; Nikolaus, age 20; Heinrich, age 5; Adam, age 3) are recorded on the 1811 census of Frank in Household No. 115.

The death of Christoph Rode in 1833 is recorded on the 1834 census of Frank in Household No. 59.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Samuel Rode came from the German region of Sachsen (Saxony).
