Roth (Kutter)
Johann Adam Roth was born in 1705. He lived in Lichenroth, but it is uncertain whether that is also where he was born. His son, Heinrich Roth, was born in 1744 in Birstein.
Heinrich Roth, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the snow-brig named Christina under the command of Skipper Jacob Stappenberg.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Kutter on 8 July 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 34 along with his wife Margaretha Elisabeth [Derr] and an orphan Margaretha [surname not recorded] (age 6).
Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Heinrich Roth came from the German region of Isenburg.
