Roth (Pfeifer)
Johann Georg Roth, a farmer, his wife Katharina, and children (Hans, age 20; Heinrich, age 18; [Johann] Adam, age 15; Katharina, age 8; Anna, age 3) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper of Thomas Fairfax.
Son Johann Adam Roth settled in the Volga German colony of Pfeifer on 20 August 1767. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 1 as an orphan living with the Johann Gulder family. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Gulder and Roth families.
At some point, Johann Adam Roth relocated to the colony of Franzosen because he is recorded in 1791 moving from Franzosen to Kamenka. He and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Kamenka in Household No. Km031.
Nikolaus Roth from Kamenka and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Marienfeld.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Georg Roth came from the German region of Mainz. The 1767 census records that Johann Adam Roth came from the German village of Aschaffenberg.
