Rothermel (Orlovskaya)
Maximilian Rothermel, a hosier (Strumpfwirker), and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
Maximilian Rothermel, his wife Catharina, and children (Friedrich, age 5; Louisa, age 2) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Orlovskaya on 7 June 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 18.
In 1796, Ludwig Rothermel moved from Orlovskaya to Meinhard.
Ludwig Rothermel and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 233.
In 1796, Georg Rothermel moved from Orlovskaya to Näb.
The 1767 census records that Maximilian Rothermel came from the German village of Wolfhagen in the region of Kassel.
