Johann Friedrich Ruf, a day laborer [Tagelöhner] and son-in-law of Christian Benner, migrated from Württemberg to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) arriving in the city of Flensburg on 9 June 1762.

The parish register of Havetoft [Denmark] records the marriage on 21 August 1762 of Johann Friedrich Roos [sic] to Euphrosina Barbara Boelern.

The parish register of Havetoft [Denmark] again records the baptism on 28 August 1762 of Johann Christoph Russ [sic], son of Johann Friedrich Russ [sic] & Barbara Euphrosina Boeler [sic].

Johann Friedrich Ruf (age 33), his wife Eva Rosina Barbara (age 26), and son Johann Christoph Baltzer (age ¾) are recorded in the Danish colony of Neubörm on 30 September 1763.

The Ruf family is last recorded among the Danish colonies on 12 January 1765.

Friedrich Ruf, a tailor (Schneider), his wife Eva Barbara, and children (Johann Christoph, age 6; Maria Regina, age 3, Martin Friedrich, age ½) are recorded on the 1767 census of Holstein in Household No. 32. They had arrived in Holstein on 2 May 1766.

In 1788, Christoph Ruf moved from Holstein to Schwab.

Johann Christoph Ruf and and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Schwab in Household No. Sb42.

Johann Heinrich Ruf, son of Johann Christoph Ruf, and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Schwab in Household No. 75.

Heinrich Peter Ruf, son of Johann Heinrich Ruf, and his family moved from Schwab to Galka in 1850 where they are recorded on the 1850 census of Galka in Household No. 218.

Johann Peter Ruf, son of Johann Christoph Ruf, and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Schwab in Household No. 77.

Georg Adam Ruff, son of Johann Peter Ruff, and his family moved from Schwab to Oberdorf in 1852.

Georg Adam Ruff from Schwab and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Oberdorf in Household No. 10.

In 1790, Johann Adam Ruf moved from Holstein to Galka.

The death of Adam Ruff in 1837 is recorded on the 1850 census of Galka in Household No. 27.
