Discussion & Documentation:

Georg Wilhelm Rupp, his wife Anna, and children (Anna, age 13; Johann [Nikolaus], age 8) along with the widow Maria Rupp and her daughter Anna (age 7) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Franz Nikolaus Schröder.

Georg Rupp, his wife Anna, children (Anna, age 13; Johann, age 8; Anna [again], age 7), and widow Maria Rupp are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that both parents and both daughters named Anna died en route.

Maria's deceased husband is believed to be the brother of Georg Wilhelm. Maria [Rupp] is recorded on a list of Beauregard recruits that was attached to the 1767 census in Household No. 143 along with her new husband Johannes Metzler and the orphan Nikolaus Rupp who would be her nephew. This Maria is believed to be Maria Rupp because the orphan Nikolaus Rupp is recorded with them.

Both Rupp families and Johannes Metzler arrived on the same ship in Oranianbaum.

This family is believed to have settled in the Volga German colony of Wittmann because in 1780, Nikolaus Rupp moved from Wittmann to Schönchen.

Nikolaus Rupp from Wittmann and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Schönchen in Household No. Sn18.
